Landscapes of Perception

Landscapes of Perception

In Landscapes of Perception I assembled paintings of my surreal landscapes capturing an impression, a memory or a feeling.

They include two subcollections Wald (Secret Forest) and End of Summer.

Wald series contains forest paintings. I wanted to use the German word "Wald" meaning "forest" because of the rich cultural tradition associated with forests in Germany. Forest covers a third of the country's land and forest motifs are unavoidable from fairy tales, books, and paintings to traditions of spending time in nature. I wanted to express in my forest paintings this feeling of a special, enchanted place and this word's significance seems fitting.

The End of Summer collection is inspired by my visits to Austria, Switzerland, and southern Germany for two summers. The Alps and forests are magical and I have found many flowers and paths to paint.

Mini Paintings

Mini Paintings

This collection will include paintings 12" in width and smaller. Those sizes are perfect to test color combinations, compositions, and techniques, and develop new ideas.

The small size is also ideal for plein air paintings. Therefore this collection also includes a series of Pleasanton and Livermore small works done on location. Those towns are lovely, friendly, quirky, and fun. I like their downtowns, my neighbors, and quiet streets.

Studies

Studies

This collection includes studies, experimental or older works. Because of that, I can price them lower than my main body of work. They are lovely nevertheless, and I would be happy if they also find their homes.

Watercolors

Watercolors

Sometimes subject matter I want to capture especially lends itself to the fluid transparent and airy feel of the watercolor medium. This collection is the assembly of my watercolor paintings. Small size watercolors are usually intimate portraits of animals, flowers, humans, and things.
